These are the tell-tale signs of bed bugs
The earlier you recognise an infestation, the smaller the area that needs treatment - and the faster and cheaper it is to solve. Here are the four most common warning signs.
Bite marks in a cluster or a line
Waking up with 3-5 itchy bumps in a line or tight cluster - typically on the arm, leg or torso, wherever your skin touched the sheet overnight.
Tiny rust-brown spots on the bedding
Pinhead-sized dark spots on the sheet, along the mattress seams, or at the base of the wall - this is digested blood (bed bug droppings), one of the earliest, most reliable signs.
Shed skins and tiny, pale eggs
Translucent, empty "shells" (shed exoskeletons) and 1 mm pale-yellow eggs in the mattress seam, bed frame joints or behind the nightstand - a sign of active breeding.
A sweetish, musty smell
In a heavier infestation you can smell it in the bedroom, especially near the bed - many compare it to almonds or damp mould. If you notice this, it is likely more than just one or two bugs.
